Celebrating 10 Years
With Destiny having it’s 10-Year anniversary on September 9th 2024, I wanted to commemorate the milestone with a tribute video showing the long journey players of the game had been on.
This was a pretty in depth process. Recreating the look and feel of Destiny’s starmaps, recreating many of the logos in Illustrator, and animating everything to match all of the pre-existing stuff that players have grown used to over the years.
Animating icons
Here you can see all the icon animations. For some, I recreated animations from existing reference, while for others creating a brand new animations, as some had only appeared static in the past.
Destiny icons, many recreated in Adobe Illustrator, all animated in After Effects.
Starmap VFX Breakdown
Another challenge was recreating the look of Destiny’s starmaps. Here you can see all the layers I built up to achive this.
